Getting a record deal is no different from getting a loan from the bank, that money isn’t yours it’s in favor of the label. When it’s time to drop an album they are expecting you to sell a good amount of records in order for them to recoup whatever’s missing. Funny cause The Game just recently said for artists to stay indie and not sign to a major. He should know cause he was on one most of his career.
At the end of the day this stay indie conversation is kind of pointless. There are a lot of newer artists that breakthrough because their song has samples, and clearly record labels are instrumental in making stars see DaBaby. Meg is no different and as wayno said she’s just tryna kick them out the whip. Unfortunately for her she got herself in yet another deal trying to do this

Folks doing shady business usually get upset when they feel exposed. If you know you doing straight business, there shouldn’t be an issue. A contract inquiry or a simple discussion about renegotiation options shouldn’t be a big deal.

Keep in mind Carl was green to alotta stuff, so he was spending top dollar on evertything. Even Slim Thug was like"yeah I saw y'all spend a bag over there. New artists, don't expect me to spend that if you sign with me."
In the above interview, around 23:00 is where Carl explains how get got "done dirty." He says he understands re-negotiating, but he explains how Megan got with Roc Nation to cut him out of the equation.
At 10:20 of this, Wayno breaks downs exactly why Megan is in the wrong and how Roc Nation is basically interfering with 1501. Very good listen.

that’s on the artist. She should’ve read the fine print if there was a clause just in case.
That doesn't make it right especially if another brother doing that to a young sister like that.
Probably close the 5 and probably made 2 mil off of her.
