“With the greatest respect, you’re part of the problem” … somebody had to tell CTG to stop being a hypocrite lol

│ Charlamagne has been the problem ever since he decided to talk politics knowing damn well he is ignorant on the subject.

CTG is literally the poster child for "Stand for something or fall for anything "

How can you respect Charlamagne. Charlamagne is a fakkit, he used to call himself Pinkett Winfrey Knowles Carter, what kind of man takes on the name of another man as if they’re married to them. I remember he said that shyt to Jay’s face, Hov dubbed tf out that shyt. That shyt was so gay.

How can “being married” to a woman = gay?

I'm so tired of people like CTG hearing someone make the exact opposite argument and responding with "I agree but..." No, you don't agree. And repeating that you agree while simultaneously re-iterating your opposing argument is not intelligent. It makes you look stupid and it assumes your audience is stupid. And it perpetuates my point about podcasts and celebrities getting into political discourse: it's just yapping. Banter. Something you throw on in the background while not actively listening, because if you actively listened you'd say "wow this guy doesn't know what he's talking about" and start listening to something else. CTG, SAS, Budden...these guys are objectively stupid when it comes to these convos. They don't research, beyond consuming headlines. They don't understand policy. All they care about is optics and the rat race. Who is up, who is down. Who is strong, who is weak.
Its the sportsification of journalism. Everyone on CNN, FOX etc. Have also taken on this attitude of politics as a team sport instead of a means of solving problems identified by the electorate. You have elected officials talking like sports commentators saying some dumb shyt like "I call balls and strikes" while talking about foreign policy and the social programs people ACTUALLY depend on to survive. Any rich dummy now feels qualified to speak on the shyt with how low the standards are for journalism and politicians.

We really need an independent agency that acts as a watchdog for journalism and advertising. We also need strong federal standards on literacy and civic education including teaching alternative political theories from primary sources.

I agree but you don't have to keep listening to CTG. If you feel it's just banter stop supporting their content. Can't be that tired if you're still viewing their content.

Bruh, did you see what @Piff Perkins said? "People like CTG" as in he isn't the only one even if CTG is the subject here.

Piff might decide not to listen to him but a buncha just-above-pill-popping Breakfast Club listeners with no political understanding will make decisions informed by people who run their mouths and are loudly wrong. It's like saying you boycott Rogan...millions will fill that gap and their vote counts the same as yours.

You ever come across old news segments on Youtube?
I went down the rabbit hole of watching videos about the Mafia. Their crimes with casinos and corrupting unions...

Back in the 1970s and even up to the very early 1990s, the news was actually pretty good in comparison to the "Cola Wars" style of news we get today.
It was very matter-of-fact

Maybe everything wasn't better in the old days, but I think the news might be an exception.

Came back in to echo Medhi’s point about doing nothing: only Republicans benefit. Even if Dems work for something and Republicans stymie it, Dems get blamed. People are conditioned to letting Republicans get away with the same bullshyt and taking their frustrations out on Dems.

I agree buuuuut.... you can't control other people actions. There's always going to be opposing world views. Ya'll want to have solely echo chambers and to parrot talking points but with the internet that's damn near impossible now.

You don't have to listen to people like CTG or Joe rogan or any pill poppers. Have to figure out a way to make your ideas more appealing to those demographics even when folks try to come against them. Good luck with that.

I cant find the exact quote I'm looking for. But, Walter Cronkite spoke out against for profit news. He saw what was coming. Trump fukkin passed out in the White House this week and the media was crickets. Biden had done that last year. Our devices would've melted from the over coverage. Ted Koppel, Dan Rather, Sam Donaldson are still alive. Could you imagine them trying to both sides frame our current environment?

Where did you learned he passed out I imagine some media source? Seem like everything Trump does makes headlines and even on here half the threads in TLR are about Trump and his administration. His approval numbers are low. I'm bothsider but anytime I see a article or a news story it's mainly negative about him. People are protesting and there's been attempts on his life what else do you want until midterms?

My pessimism comes when people talk about old policies like the Fairness Doctrine in the news, and Glass-Steagall in finance....how those were good frameworks that were dismantled.

But then Democrats come into power...and literally don't make any fukking effort to reinstate those frameworks.
THAT's the shyt that frustrates me.

It's like when Trump did all these tax cuts in his first term.
Biden and the Democrats made zero fukking effort to undo that shyt. Then Trump gets back in office, comes out with this stupid fukking bill to make things even worse...and things just keep drifting more and more to the Right...worse and worse for the general public.

And then the establishment and mainstream media is clutching their fukking pearls when socialist or populist candidates start popping up in elections for mayor, governor, etc...

Really, bytch? You don't see where this shyt is headed?

Ok that rant wasn't really directed at you...I'm just saying.

Here is the problem anyone with a platform can have an opinion on anything regardless of expertise on the subject.

Now the problem of CTG and others is even if say I, the individual stop listening. He has an considerable influence in the Black community and people take what he says seriously. He is clearly in place to run interference for the Republicans disguised as 'concern' or being critical of both sides which really means all the smoke for Democrats and none for the 'other side'

Up until the 90s, you had to have some level of expertise if you are going to discuss a subject or at least the intellectual capacity to do some actual research before opening your mouth.
