he’s right man. NBA is a lot entertaining from its star players and storylines. NHL’s biggest storyline before the playoffs was Don Cherry complaining about the Hurricanes celebrations after wins at home. Oh and at least NBA officiating and replay isn’t a ongoing issue like it has been with the NHL all playoffs.

nhl is a niche sport that is only popular in canada/russia and a few european countries and semi popular in the states.
