if you go back and check some of my posts, I have been tellin nikkas this for the longest. Stephen A. Smith is the one who broke the story about 2 months ago but I dont think people believed it. the reason why it didnt happen is because David Griffin had the deal in place and Gilbert was lowballing him about re-upping his contract. So when Griffin bounced the deal didnt go through. They even had a chance to get Billups and salvage the deal but Gilbert offered him $1.4 mil to be GM.
This time it wasnt Bron's fault either. It was Gilbert's.
I wonder what exactly the final roster was supposed to look like
I dont know if they had in mind exactly but PG, Melo, and Wade wouldve all been on there. The thing is (and I would need to go back and find the sources) that Kyrie didnt have to get traded. He was discussed but from what I heard, it wasnt Bron that suggested that. The only integral piece they wanted to get rid of was Love but Indy wasnt going for it. Took Dipo instead. They never seriously offered Kyrie or Indy wouldve taken that in a heartbeat. Only when Kyrie said he wanted out was when Cavs got serious about dealing him and it was too late to get PG then.
sn: even though it was a great deal....the IT/Crowder/BK pick was not the best deal the Cavs could have gotten.
