seriously, though...I'm a big melo fan, but it might be better for us that he leave :ld:

Stop falling for that bullsh*T propaganda. You really want to let a top 10 player in his prime walk away, just to rebuild through the draft with picks that might not amount to anything? Phil Jax isnt that young, I highly doubt he's going to be here for a long term rebuilding project. I'm quite sure dude has a short term plan in effect.

Could Melo sign a 5 year deal, but make the 4 remaining years a player option? So if he doesn't like what he sees in NY next year he can just bounce?

I'm say this, like I've been saying. Melo opting out doesn't mean he's leaving NY. He's gonna get his bread, stay in NY & recruit some heavy hitters next year. Watch.
:what: You dont seem to realize that those two things are in conflict with each other? What kind of "heavy hitters" is he gonna be able to convince to take less money to come to New York while he's taking up all the cap?
