All nba selections shouldn’t be use to determine who was a better player. I don’t think Melo was better than Nique but you sound like a fool.

Sure, Bird played on better teams but he was a superior shooter, rebounder, playmaker and probably a defender as well. Bird was def no defensive savant but Nique was arguably even worse, not to mention Nique had an allergy to passing the ball

look at all the great perimeter scorers of the 80s after Jordan... no disrespect but they look fukkin primitive compared to him.. lookin like old software out there. Melo and all the other guards/forwards of the 00’s and beyond modeled their games after Jordan. The jab step, the post game, the turn around jumper... these guys got range now too.
If Melo took a time machine to the 80’s he’d be the most dominant scorer in the league after Jordan. He would be better than Nique.
But so would pierce, tmac, vince, etc. in their primes as well.

Nique before mike was the most advanced skill player in the league and he took it by storm early. It just so happened one mike had a rival named len bias. So mike knew he could hang with nique. Yet if that level of competition was never there. Mike would have had no frame of reference for dealing with someone and surpassing nique.

I'll concede that Bird get more props for being a white player but during Jordan's rookie year, Bird was on his first of 3 straight MVPs while leading the C's to a league best record and a NBA finals berth.
This seems more like an aesthetic preference than being most effective on the court.

That's a large claim to make considering Nique wasn't even the ROY and didn't even make an all star game till his fourth year in the league. Bird & Mike were stars the instants they set foot in the league.
I'll be 29 in a few months. Too young maybe but we have enough access to tapes, games, articles and whatnot to make a fair judgment
