Jay should've did Takeover how Pac did Hit Em Up and Eazy did Real Muthaphukkin G's and just let the homies go in (State Property) and drop a verse or 2

I quoted this because it mentions love and love is what I was gonna talk about…fans dont necessarily love you but Nas is one of, if not the, most beloved rappers, at least breathing. Love is stronger than Popularity…which record you loved more is neither here nor there, it’s subjective…but the people love Nas and anyone who reads comment sections/etc… knows that. People love Jay-z music and style and shhit…rightfully so, but he’s not beloved like that…like a Pac, Nas…even Wu, etc… I knew when pitted against each other, Nas would overwhelmingly have the peoples vote.

The only place I ever see Nas catch hate like that is here, lol, and amongst like little slithery, weasely media figures who are probably just biased and/or don’t like that his music isn’t more ignorant.

I mean good for Bleek for being loyal, but we all know Ether is the better diss record. Takeover has the better beat (the Ether beat without vocals sound super cheesy). And it's arguably the better song (since not all of it is even a diss) but Ether is the better diss record.

I feel like the ether beat and Nas’ rhymes were more digestible + Takeover was Jay not focusing on Nas solely. He went at too many nikkas + the beat wasn’t commercially easy to rock to.

Yeah, I agree... I love Ether but it really is Nas stepping out of character and pretty much throwing high school insults whenever I go back amd listen to it. What made it great is that this was completely different than what Nas typically does. I'm probably one of the few that liked Takeover better lyrically overall but there were some lines in Ether that hit harder if that makes sense. But to sum it all up, I did like Ether better for the beat alone, I never like the Takeover beat.

Nas knew he had to shut Jay up with Ether. It would have looked weak for QB if he didn’t respond. Prodigy losing to Jay was a defeat
over Queens and Nas couldn’t have that.
