You can call this racist, but the kids are bullying each other for not having them. No other group is clowning each other for not having the latest Vans, or breaking into stores to steal them. There is too much emphasis on sneakers.
You must of been in only black or majority black schools, because i definitely remember the non-black well to do kids stunting with clothes and cars to others. That also extends outside of school into just general social groups shyt, which everyone deals with.

Looking back on it, A lot of the white kids that *I thought* "stunting" with their Js were just being middle class, SMH.

The real attention seeking behavior would kick in when they got their first cars.

Ma Dukes would say, when you get a BMW at 16, what do look forward to in life?

Kids will make fun of Anything. Dress code doesn’t even slow down bullying

Y’all sound like a bunch of conservative cacs. Tell me why would historically disadvantaged groups buy luxury clothing under a system like capitalism? For people denied control over housing, work, or safety, discretionary spending becomes one of the few acts of autonomy. Why do you Black people want to shine so much, it’s a defiance of assertions of our intrinsic worth. Not to mention marketing targeted at black boys and them mimicking the materialism of the adults they live around who were also victims of the same set of circumstances. And this isn’t just a Black thing, it’s a wealth inequality thing, there are different iterations of this same phenomenon among other oppressed groups around the world.

That's like saying why do Americans Buy paintings that are not Bob Ross created....

You can appreciate the styles and representation of things you didn't live through nor witness the process....
That is in no way the same thing

Paintings have served the same functions since we did cave/rock drawings.Storytelling, entertainment for ourselves and others, and Decorating as apart of other paintings or an interior/exterior

Sneakers exist for two purposes. Athletic performance and style.

A school uniform isn’t for athletics . So you’re not trying to “be like Mike” (which again these kids never saw and have their own NBA stars) and the point of a uniform is uniformity. You aren’t going to see a nun rocking different color ways Jordans with her habit.

Makes me real curious about
  • Admission Criteria
  • The Students
  • The Teachers
  • The Curriculum
Cause this sounds like a school I would have wanted to go to

The most important component is the parents.

The district has dismal numbers across the board. Elementary performance levels are terrible, and it gets worse as the kids get older.

And since this is where the pool of applicants come from, not completely shocking that even this charter school has these numbers . Sad, but not completely a shock.

People in that city worrying about a sneaker policy should be ashamed of themselves

I left them out, cause that's the one thing a school can't change.
yep, as you should. People who keep coming back to parents as if that could be changed are essentially just saying do nothing.
Because there is nothing you can do about them.
Great schools aren't great because the students have better parents.

Why are kids even buying Jordans?

None of them even saw him play. That would be like me buying Babe Ruth jerseys today

You think drug dealers in the 80's and 90's were wearing Jordans to "be like Mike"? :mjlol:

It was a status symbol. They've always been a status symbol. Most people wearing Jordans back then did not play basketball. You think all the people that bought Air Max 1's since '87 were runners?

Now, Gen Z buys Jordans for the same reason they buy Yeezys despite never listening to him. They're highly sought after and in style. That's all they care about. Although Yeezys aren't what they used to be.

Good move. They need to ban all designer and any type of jewelry. This country is too money obsessed and stunting on each other while having the lowest test scores. We need a culture reset

China banned flexing on the gram, thats why they about to crush buildings.
Man stfu and wear what you want to wear

If you're broke just say that
