Men: Do you practice chivalry (open door, give up seats)?

I always used to open doors but as I've gotten older, I've realised that people, women in particular, don't know how to say thank you these days. So I don't bother half the time anymore.

sometimes there's a lot of people going through the same door back to back so usually the person will hold the door until the next one catches it and no one says thank you, just pay it forward style.

i hate when i see someone close behind me (guy or girl) so i hold the door but they're on their phone and genuinely don't notice someone is holding the door and they're walking really slow. sometimes just before you're about to say fukk it and let it go, they notice and step real fast on some "oh shyt, my bad man, thanks" and then you end up feeling like a butler

Living in Texas politeness is pretty much ingrained. For instance, last night as my husband and I was leaving a restaurant a guy who was about to enter in the same door we were exiting held the door and said go ahead. We both said "thank you" and kept it moving. He was about 28-32 too.

Hell, even at work, if a male coworkers and I walk up to a door he will grab it first and wave me in then he follows behind.

Even I do it, if I open a door and someone (regardless of gender) is coming thru that same door I hold it open for them.

Its not about seeing someone as being "weaker" its common courtesy and where I'm from its as easy as saying please & thank you. Is it that hard to take 5sec out of your time to hold a door?
