Masterpiece/Classic/Epic. This movie was amazing. And yes even though it was more violent "Boyz in the Hood", it still an amazing movie from beginning to end. I think "Dead Presidents" is the Hughes Brothers best film though overall but you can't take nothing away from Menace. Soundtrack was Classic too.

Anyone remember hearing about the rumored prison riot scene that was cut from the movie because it was too violent?

The Hughes brothers, when queried about the film's explicit content, have often talked about a "prison riot" scene that studio execs forced them to cut in order to avoid an NC-17 rating. The scene has yet to appear in any of the released versions of the film.
