Come to think about it, I think this used to be more common. I can remember as a child guys who knew how to make simple guns.

Lots of online forums and books on this....intro level is using kits. Then using power tools, lathe and drill press to make rifled barrels, stocks. You need a bluing tank for finishing/coating gun steel though. Most hardcore is buying a mill and making your own receivers, etc.
