Anybody downplaying these programs is either a cac, an agent or ignorant.

These programs have been around for decades before they were rebranded “DEI”. They have helped thousands of black undergrads and grad students get a look that they normally wouldn’t get.

If you don’t believe me, go talk to career professionals at universities, both PWI and HBCU and you will see how invaluable these programs are to just giving black kids a their first good look.

I personally have friends who are directors/VP levels who got a good look because Fortune 500 companies had mandates to diversify and went recruiting at HBCUs and conferences like Black MBA conference.

These programs have literally helped tens of thousands of black professionals get their foot in the door.

Inroads was one of the OG programs and changed my life.

Expound further
Cartago delanda est means "Carthage must be destroyed" and was the rallying cry of the Roman senator Cato the Elder. Carthage was Rome's African rival and in the final war it was Hannibal vs Scipio and Hannibal lost.

@Neuromancer is raising the question if this is against "Africans" :mjpls:

Exactly, DEI was a fukkin marketing ploy by companies for image purposes and not an actual movement
This is not true. Having worked in the IT department of one place for 3 years and another when DEI was becoming a thing, its a serious movement that some have taken more seriously than others. My current situation put a bunch of black people in place in HR, management, and the lower rungs due to historically white employees being the baseline.

No idea what this shyt means.

I could respond but then I'll get dragged into a back and forth with somebody who isn't gonna change their views. Believe what you wanna believe. Then await reality. Any black person with actual skills and a competence isn't worried about this. Maybe you are.
I just want to let you know that I'm not saying Black professionals aren't skilled or competent. It's just that, historically, even highly skilled Black professionals have faced barriers that their white counterparts didn't. It's not like I'm making all of this up, either. It's all backed by decades of data on hiring discrimination, wage gaps, and so on. And I'm a tradesman. I just care about Black people and want as few barriers in the way as possible.

I believe that's the case in tech, but this anti dei movement hasn't stopped with just tech. It's now effecting industries that it was beneficial with. Black folks being off code, cosigning the attack of other black folks being in charge of diversity initiatives is why we're in the situation we're in. A complete capitulation of the far rights framing was cosigned by our very own. Every black is now considered a dei and lazy with undeserved careers.
Other than c00ns who been cosiging the attack of other black folks in the name of dei

Do you guys think that the pendulum will swing back after trump term or is this the new normal in America? It'll take a lot to build back the programs destroyed, and some of the pieces needed won't be recoverable for decades. And with AI already promising to eliminate millions of jobs, it's not looking good

Meta's civil rights team head to leave company

Roy Austin Jr., who built and led a small civil rights team inside Meta beginning in 2021, is departing the company, Austin announced in a Facebook post Friday evening.

Why it matters: It's the first notable departure from the social media giant since CEO Mark Zuckerberg's wave of rightward moves this week, which included shuttering a fact-checking operation, loosening hate speech restrictions and ending diversity programs.

Zoom in: Austin's civil rights team had 13 members as of 2023. His departure note mentions the members will "continue their work in different orgs" within Meta, suggesting that the team is disbanding.
  • Meta confirmed Austin's planned exit but declined to comment further on the status of the civil rights team.
Between the lines: The civil rights group had focused on a handful of issues, including police posting fake profiles on the site and issues related to discrimination in housing and employment.
