You know net gaming "journalists" are liable to be comprised of innanet forum posters.

I do research for a living and I'm a big fan of meta-analyses. I trust metacritic because it is basically a meta-analysis. You're not going to change my opinion. You're late too, I already had like a dozen people tell me the same shyt. I trust paid professionals more than fanboys on the internet. Yeah there may be some corruption, but they aren't buying reviews from 30+ reviewers. That shyt ain't happening. That's just a tin-foil hat conspiracy theory. My use of metacritic hasn't let me down yet. I'll continue to trust them despite what everybody else says.

I find a lot of good games because of metacritic. I play games that are below 85 all the time. I have over 500 fukking steam games alone. I happen to think 85+ equals a good score. I'm a little weary of games below 85, but try them out if I'm interested.I loved Captain Toad for example

and every game cost $60??

Furthermore, every game that IS considered "amazing " may not be your cup of tea so going by that critical acclaim from paid professionals alone doesn't save you from wasting this $60 you're holding onto. Going by some arbitrary number added to a game at the end of someone's opinion doesn't make their judgement absolute.

Do you even know what a meta analysis is?

When you have 70 plus reviewers reviewing a game (which we see with big name releases), trends emerge. You can trust those trends cuz opinions start to equal each other out. The people that gave it a hundred cancel out with the people who gave it a 50.

Metacritic is the best tool we have when there isn't a demo available (which is kinda most of the time).

Like I said I buy games below 85, but think 85 is a good cutoff. You think my 500+ games are all 85+? Or did you forget that I had that many games?

isn't it simpler to rely on a source that's not as likely to be contaminated by "troll reviews"?

IMO professional reviews are the best way to judge a game you haven't played. that doesn't mean that professional reviewers are "perfect", or that their views are always in line with mine. it just means it's the best system available. and an aggregating system like metacritic is even better since it produces an average score

Still can't use the quote button? 100s of games come out each year. How the fukks am I gonna trust my instincts on that? You're a fool to not consider reviews in my opinion. You're throwing your money away on a gut instinct. That makes absolutely no sense. The last time I did that I got ACU. shyt looked fun, it realistically modeled Paris. The previous game was great. The graphics look amazing. Yeah, I thought I should preorder that. $60 down the drain. If I woulda waited on reviews, I'd still have that money.
