Metroid Turns 30!/Appreciation

And where did that name come from?

I've always said it's a misnomer, since those mechanics (needing power ups to access certain areas) were in Metroid long before Castlevania

anyway, OG Metroid is one of my favorite games. I played it at a friend's house, and basically strong armed him to let me borrow it. I remember drawing maps so I wouldn't get lost. not to mention pages of passwords. spending hours trying to bomb-jump over a wall, and finally making it. that music. shooting baddies coming out a pipe forever to refill you energy tanks.

I played it enough that I was able to beat it in under 3 hours, and saw the bikini ending

Super Metroid was a superior game though

Also, the long awaited fan remake of Metroid 2 is gonna be released in an hour and it's free.

I appreciate his dedication and commitment to creating such a great remake but he should have known that Nintendo was going to shut everything down.

Besides is it his fault that he's doing what Nintendo should have done a long time ago?
