:dahell:

This not the same thing at all. Bobby Bonilla got paid 20 million dollars than what was on his deal. NOne of those other players are getting deferred payments like that.

Only Griffey is getting money on similar terms, but even then its not touching the APR Bonilla got.

Brett Saberhagen also got a similarly bad deal from the Mets. :dead:
Wrong.

Manny Ramirez, Red Sox

When he signed an eight-year, $160 million deal with the Red Sox before the 2001 season, Ramirez got himself taken care of well beyond the end of the deal, deferring $31 million of the package. In 2016, the Red Sox owe Ramirez a payment of $1,993,409. His take will exceed $2 million next year, and keep going up by a few thousand each year until 2026.
31 million deferred over a 17 year period would equal an annual payment of approximately $1.82 million. As we see here he gets more than that and his payments increase annually because I'm sure they are earning interest in the meantime. They all get more in the end because the deferred payments are earning interest. Nice try tho.

Imma explain this again, Bobby Bonilla was owed 5.9 million and will pocket nearly 30 million.

Manny Ramirez is basically getting the last year of his contract, spread out over 17 years. That came out to about 30.94 million

Do math better.

Show your work. You seem to be pulling numbers out of thin air. Where are you getting this 30.94 million for Manny?

That’s now, things can change quickly or she’s already been paid off

True. I'd say she probably wasn't paid, but that's clearly what the second team employee was probing for.

It's a bit of a logic leap, but I can easily see someone writing up an oped going at Theo Epstein for this going on while he was there. MLB would probably like this to come and go ASAP.

After seeing her perspective she gotta be Japanese or Korean.

I'm guessing Korean.

Would explain some of Mina Kimes' involvement. Don't remember seeing or hearing much MLB coverage from her, but she is half Korean. Could see her being someone the anonymous lady had as a contact in the business.

MLB players getting money deferred annually in their big contracts is very common across the league...except with certain teams/players that demand it.

For example, the word is that Bryce Harper would've re-signed with the Nationals if he would've gotten all of his money upfront annually. They couldn't promise that, so he signed with Philly, who is paying him his annual salary with no deferred payments.

Bobby Bonilla's Mets contract had the money deferred with a crazy interest rate. These standard MLB contracts with deferred money do not.
