I still think it's a pointless move on the part of the team. Getting rid of Ron offers no Cap relief whatsoever. It just makes it so they don't have to pay as much luxury tax. It's a move that improves the team in now way whatsoever. If anything it makes the team worse since Ron's defense will have to be replaced by someone and the Lakers are still limited in how much money they can spend.
