Even reggaeton jacked reggae and dancehall's style
Mariachi music has European riots and uses European instruments
Cumbia music has African roots
Mexicans in the Southwest dance cumbia wepa which copies C-walking and other hip-hop dance styles, and the music copies hip-hop or is just a remix of hip-hop with Mexican-sounding music thrown in

Of course they didn't cut out the N-word from the song

The fukking Salsa, Cha Cha Cha and Merengue are African too :mjtf:

It's high time these Latino importers got that Indian treatment now..

I think I'm too black to let culture vultures slide. Ryan Coogler just made a critically acclaimed film highlighting black culture, are you more employed than him? :mjlol:
what did you invent in black culture?
or are you taking credit for the work of others simply because you have a similar amount of melanin?

just as dumb as the white boys that talk about all the white mans advancements but he works at 7/11.
or not acknowledging Soul Food is just remixed white southern cooking.

I think thats what buddy youre replying to is getting at

chicano oldies, but the singer is black.

still stuck on lowriders, when I dont know a single black person that owns a lowrider, making it seem like its a trend nationally when its not.

bit off zoot suits

present day edgars dress like drillers.

no one copies them, and they copy black everything. they need to stop comparing themselves to black people, their influence stops at food. they should direct their energy at white people

shyt is spoken like someone who has never set foot in the South. White folks eat our food not the other way around. Cacs not eating hopping john, chitlins, pig ears/feet, hog maws, oxtail or nun a that. In NC, the only thing we collectively get down on is whole hog chopped pork BBQ. And the best BBQ cooks is Black and that has neen widely acknowledged for centuries. You wanna dismiss the premise of the thread fine, do you, but don't lie or be willfully ignorant in making your point.

that's really inaccurate.

Southern Food with African Background - Immaculate Bites

Sea Island red peas, a cowpea from West Africa, arrived via the transatlantic slave trade wikipedia
Several soul food dishes and ingredients do not have European origins; instead, they trace back to Africa or are indigenous to the Americas. Here are notable examples:
  • Okra-based dishes (e.g., gumbo): Okra is native to West Africa and is a key ingredient in dishes like gumbo, which blends African, Native American, and European influences, but the use of okra itself is distinctly African15.
  • Black-eyed peas and cowpeas: These legumes are native to Africa and were brought to the Americas by enslaved Africans. Dishes like Hoppin’ John use black-eyed peas as a central ingredient357.
  • Yams: True yams are native to Africa, though in the American South, "yams" often refer to sweet potatoes, which are indigenous to the Americas38.
  • Watermelon: Watermelon originated in Africa and became a staple in the diets of enslaved people in the South3.
  • Peanuts (groundnuts): While peanuts were introduced to Africa by the Portuguese, their widespread use in African and then African American cooking (e.g., boiled peanuts, peanut soup) is rooted in African culinary tradition138.
  • Rice-based dishes (e.g., red rice, jambalaya): Africans from rice-growing regions were brought specifically to cultivate rice in the Carolinas, and dishes like red rice and jambalaya have strong African influences15.
  • Greens (collards, mustard, turnip): While the greens themselves may have European or Mediterranean origins, the practice of slow-cooking greens with smoked meats and spices comes from African preservation and cooking methods5.
  • Molasses and sorghum syrup: Sorghum, similar to molasses, is believed to have been brought from Africa and became a staple sweetener in soul food3.
Some dishes, such as fried chicken, cornbread, and macaroni and cheese, are blends of African, European, and Native American influences, but the above examples are rooted in African or indigenous American traditions rather than European ones158.
