They might not be the originators but the appreciate it just the same. Culture is not only about things a group invented but also habits and norms.
Really don't see anything wrong with this, as long as they are not trying to take credit for music AA created
Reading the comment section makes it sound like they are taking credit for the music.

I mean… I’m pretty sure they were aware some of the people were black, maybe it was just big songs in their countries at the time.

Like I know black people who listened and loved Selina :yeshrug:

I hope thats not the case then.

Kinda hard to believe they could.. James Brown is James Brown.. you can’t fake anything he did as Mexican culture
Just read the comments, all calling it Chicano culture, the artist being black is never mentioned.

I live in California so this isn't anything new to me.

Well they said culture but didn’t really say ethnicity or anything.

Like how westcoast mexicans listen to nothing but Tupac and shyt. They can say that it was part of their culture growing up but that music definitely didn’t originate with them.

The problem with West coast Mexicans is their weird refusal to acknowledge it as black music and culture. It's like an elephant in the room that none of them will address.

Imagine how strange it would be seeing black people dapping each other up and celebrating selena as black culture while NEVER acknowledging her heritage and culture.

Yeah, that’s weird as fukk.

I honestly feel that most cultures have this kinda jealousy thing with American black culture.

mexican gangs(even :mjpls: ones) are now banging like Black gangs, even on each other calling each other nikka and everything.

theres even a civil conflict within them, between those who want to preserve sureno identity, as opposed to those who copy Black american banging

and its the latter(banging like BAs) that are growing. LOL

Alot of those younger chicanos really do think that's (black R&B oldies) a true reflection of their (Chicano...actually Cholo style) culture: OG Cholo Culture are the ones who popularized the R&B oldies, low riders and zoo suits amongst Cali Chicanos

Dude in this video is a Sureno who happens to be comparing what he calls "distinctly Chicano" culture that's already "black" influenced (pre-HipHop) to todays Chicano youth who may also be "black" influenced but by modern HipHop like that Mexican rapper, Swifty

to the point they're in denial of the roots while those older Chicanos/Cholos are fully aware of the roots because they've actually seen the black pioneers of the songs they like in person like

him today with Chicanos

This dude seems to be a blend of the old chicano/cholo style and the modern one

And this is my problem with them

Atleast when cacs bite everything they do they can admit it’s cuz their culture is wack and bland and give props to black artist. Eminem, Paul wall etc constantly shout out their influences

These Mexicans bite us and still play that Mexican pride, our culture is so amazing BS. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a Mexican rapper cite a black rapper as their influence.

Group of haters fr
