Not the same.....the white cats will jack/appropriate the music and then at some point produce their own artists who they will then think are the greatest of said genre (Elvis-Rock, Eminem-Rap, Benny Goodman-Jazz, Stevie Ray Vaughn-Blues etc...)

The Cali Chicanos/Cholos on the other hand produce very little acts/bands from their OWN background that can perform at a high level in said "black" styles so they end up continuing to listen to the OG Black records/artists while simultaneously almost disconnecting said music from its actual roots/cultural backdrop.

Alot of those younger chicanos really do think that's (black R&B oldies) a true reflection of their (Chicano...actually Cholo style) culture: OG Cholo Culture are the ones who popularized the R&B oldies, low riders and zoo suits amongst Cali Chicanos
