And this is why the gun lobby jumps through so many hoops to not even have research done on the damage of guns. The ATF doesn't even keep records. Only thing that is required is that the gun store has to keep records of your original purchase of a gun. If they go out of business, the ATF gets those records, and they can't make copies and they have to destroy them in like two days. Now does that sound like protecting our freedom, or protecting something shady. I'll take a ban bet for life. If this country kept records of who has what firearms, and every sale had to be documented with a lease signed over, the way we do with vehicles, gun violence among gangs and in our neighborhoods would drop, because cacs wouldn't be able to just sell their guns privately without a care.
