agree 100% with the first part, not so much the second

thats the beauty of being in Miami, you don't NEED to be an amazing recruiter if you can win games... you can drive 1 hour in every direction form campus and find a bunch of future All-Americans, + every kid in the 305 grew up a Cane fan but goes to FSU, UF or to the SEC because we sucked the last 10 years. If we show results on the field, these dudes will be ours

we don't need another car salesman/recruiter who can't really coach :camby:
:ehh:

Maybe you're right.
I suppose you could get the head coach to run the program and have the recruiting delegated to an assistant.

Kinda like how Ed Orgeron recruited for USC in the early 2000s.

this would never happen, but lawd have mercy if Chip Kelly was the head coach at the U :pachaha: with the speed that the athletes down in South Florida have, it really wouldn't be fair if we ran the spread

Houston
Herman would probably be the prize because of his success at OSU and so far at Houston.
And because it seems like he was able to recruit some pretty good players in his 1st year on the job.

It would really suck for Houston if he left though

I don't really like speculating on if coaches will stay or leave because it's impossible to know what's in someone's heart and what they want out of life. With that out of the way the only school I'm kinda worried about is USC because both he and his wife are from so cal. Jobs like Miami and south Carolina, I'm not saying they aren't good jobs but I am questioning his fit. People are really underestimating how much of a "Texas guy" he is despite not being from here. His strongest recruiting connections are in Texas and 8 of his 9 assistant coaches are from Texas and have over 100 combined years recruiting the state.

If I remember correctly something like 50 hs coaches contacted UH on his behalf during the interview process. The idea that he'd risk burning many of his recruiting bridges by not even staying for a full calendar year and that he'd continue to recruit the state like a madman is... interesting. Now if he gets an offer he can't refuse (like say usc) it's a little easier to understand. If he were just a tad bit patient I'd be shocked if he didn't get offers from places that he could win bigger at than south Carolina or jobs were he doesn't have to fight to get his facilities built like here at UH or Miami.

Of course the real wildcard in all of this is conference realignment. Ive heard that we expect the big 12 to expand by two for the 2017 season, which would mean they'd have make an official announcement before June 1, 2016. We seem to be confident, really confident, that we'll be picked. Of course if Herman were to move on it would have to happen in December. There are a lot of moving parts with Herman.
