Cuba reported that four people were killed in the incident involving a Florida-registered speedboat that entered Cuban waters. One of the deceased was identified as
Michel Ortega Casanova, a U.S. resident and American citizen who had lived in the U.S. for over 20 years. The
other three individuals killed have not yet been identified.
Six people were captured following the shootout. They were identified as:
- Amijail Sánchez González
- Leordan Enrique Cruz Gómez
- Conrado Galindo Sariol
- José Manuel Rodríguez Castello
- Cristián Ernesto Acosta Guevara
- Roberto Azcorra Consuegra
Cuban authorities stated these individuals are Cuban residents of the U.S. with alleged criminal histories, and two of them, Sánchez González and Cruz Gómez, were previously wanted in Cuba for suspected terrorism-related activities. Additionally,
Duniel Hernández Santos was detained in Cuba and accused of being sent from the U.S. to assist the infiltration. He reportedly confessed to his role.
One of the named detainees, Roberto Azcorra Consuegra, claimed he was still in the U.S. and was surprised to see his name listed.
