Miami's biggest problem is that they didn't hire an elite coach to lead them

Spo is not that great of a coach but there truly isnt that many GREAT coaches in the league. This is what happens when receiving a coaching job primarily depends on who you know and not how well you are able to teach and gameplan against other teams.

And the bolded goes for more than just the Heat, Im not picking on Spo. Because there are plenty of guys that would never have a coaching job if there was interviews done with honest assessment of coaching skills, and not how is this guy connected in the league (as far as other teams/personnel).

I look at it similar to how a businessman hands down his company to his son, who may not have any clue how to run it and there may be brilliant businessmen out there waiting in the loom to takeover and make the company strive but never get the shot :manny:

Seems like they figured they could become a dynasty with an average coach and depend on their talent to overcome all. Spo is not a good coach and it's pretty obvious. Hell, how long did it take him to give Mike Miller some burn. I never hear anyone say how they came out with a good strategy, it's always how or why one of the big 3 isn't performing.

Agree which is why when they lose 50% of the blame goes on bron 30% pat riley and 20% d wade. When you have the opportunity to coach 2 top 10 players in their prime, you can't dikk around and stick a video coordinator on the job so he can fukk this up. Riley had to had coach them or gotten Phil Jackson in 2012 after they lost in 2011. They have to get doc rivers, or riley has to come back but spo gotta go. He's getting undressed in this finals

So the TS is going to overlook the 18-point whooping the Heat gave the Spurs. I guess Pops wasn't at his coaching best that night.

Blaming Spo is an awful copout.

pop was playing chess, he just wanted a split in miami and when they went down 10 in the 4th he waved the white flag knowing he had to play again in 2 days. Genuis move by pop

Maybe Riley chose Spo as the head coach because he didn't want to lost total control of the team. With Spo as the head coach of the Heat, Riley could admonish him on set plays, rotations, how to create chemistry amongst the players, and sustain the defensive culture that he brought to Miami. I was kind of upset when he chose a video tape coordinator to run the show. On the other hand, Spo doing a good job abiding to Riley's philosphy on defense. On the offensive side of the floor, Spo is  This is the same guy who used to place Beasely at the 4 :what: and have Bosh playing like a shooting guard :snoop:and then continue to use Battier to guard PF :beli:

And what happens if the Heat blow the Spurs out next game, still a horrible coach? What if the Heat win the series, still a horrible coach?

Op is just making this thread because he didn't like how people laughed at Mark Jackson talking about god, after GS beat a non executing Nuggets squad.
