I thought the production was just as bad. Worst Jay album ever to me.

Cool man, it's interesting to hear what you think, keep it going. Worst Jay album to me too. I did fukk with some of those beats though, but Jay RUINED some of them, Uncle Murda rapped MUCH better than Jay on somewhereinamericia , Jay was embarrassing. Did you not like the Picasso Baby beat? I thought that was fire but Jay ruined that too, I wish that was given to Nas, he would have made a classic track. I've listened numerous times to assess it, and it's poor, it's not the worst thing I've ever heard but for Jay a big let down.

I was thinking 4.5 too, sometimes your mind is indecisive, I'm sure I've made some mistakes. And mm to me LIG is a 4 mic album I think, but the standouts were fantastic, but a few songs didn't like as much. I reviewed it somewhere and gave it an 8.5, so I rate it but not that close to classic to me, but very good, shyts on Jay's last album, and only reason I say that is because mainstream wise historically they have been two of the leading great MC's, but Nas is pulling further and further ahead.

Oh and Distant Relatives, that album is amazing to me... I love it. It had everything I could want from an album, content, lyrics, flavour, power, message, wisdom, it's one of the best albums I've ever personally heard. Way ahead of it's time to me and easily classic. Every song is great to me, shyt like Patience, Nah Mean, Leaders, shyt is just too ill. Damien wrecked it and over time I appreciated Nas' parts more and more. At first I thought Damien outshined him but now I think it's probably equal, I absolutely love what they brought to the table there. I would love a part 2 but probably won't happen, but people I know loved that shyt, we were hyped hearing the snippets and just bumped the fukk out of that album. I can put that on any time and highly enjoy it. I hope in time the album is even more appreciated.

This could be an interesting archive of people's opinions, or even to ask certain posters what they think mic rating wise regarding an album. I'd be interested to hear a lot of people's opinions, like Moment Of Truth by Gangstarr for instance?

Yeah Mastermind was poor, but Blessing In Disguise was great cause of Face, not even Ross could fukk that up lol. His album with Sixteen on it was vastly superior, that was actually a good album.

One of my people loves that Puba album 2000, what people rate something like that?

Change Gonna Come was my shyt. And the I Like It beat was crazy, could freestyle to that for hours lol.

Never heard either. I saw B&R in a record store in Greenbelt when I went to pick up Mega Philosophy - maybe I'll cop next time I'm in that part of town for work.
