This is true. Also crabs being out might help in 2 ways, one kaep may become a better passer by spreading the ball a little more and two, maybe that will bring crabs price down some in free agency. Either way outside of boldin, we'll need manningham and williams to come back and for jenkins to catch a damn pass.

Those are the 2 things I thought of

Maybe it cools off Crabtrees price tag and how Kaep could use furthering his chemistry with the rest of the squad

boldin had close to 1000 yards last year with cam cameron underutilizing him.

boldin will get 800+ yards as #1 WR for us easily.

you can be both a star and a possession receive at the same time.
theres no rule in football that says possession receivers cannot catch balls.

both crabs and boldin were playmakers last year as well. since ravens fired cam cameron boldin went nuts.

possession receiver+ playmaker is a combo any team is down to have. Im sure broncos are happy to have welker on their team for once.

Crabtree will never be on that level, but he was definitely en route to being a pretty damn good player.

But like any 49er fan will tell you, this team is not built around a WR. I don't think a lot of dudes get that

Breh Im not saying hes a scrub im just saying the role you think hes going to have is not going to be what you think it is. Crabs was a legit number 1 option, boldin is a solid slot reciever that can work outside sometimes now.

a ton of #1 wide receivers work from the slot in the league majority of time.
watch more football.

in fact, if you actually watched Niner, games youd see that Crabtree was in the slot almost exclusively when we ran 3WR sets.

wes welker, victor cruz are good examples of #1 WRs who play nearly exclusively from the slot and their slot% far higher than boldin's

reggie wayne, marques colston and miles austin all had similar amount of slot snap% as boldin last year (around 60%)
percy harvin was working out of the slot more than boldin in 2011.


you say 'slot receiver' like it's a bad thing its just a place in formation. especially nowadays with teams passing a ton, it doesnt matter where the receiver lines up- flanker, se, or slot.


again, saying 'slot receiver' or 'posession receiver' doesnt mean the receiver is bad. and you use it like dumb media uses these terms. stop it.

This sucks for the Niners and Crabtree. He was just starting to come into his own and was probably headed toward being a top 5 to 10 receiver. Now with this injury to the Achilles you can only hope he comes back to even 75 percent of what he was. This is the worst can of injury for a receiver to have with all that cutting they have to do. The Niners are gonna need somebody other than Boldin to step up this year.
