Why is it that, ppl defend Drake in the context of this battle and his “blackness” or authenticity being questioned? Drake isn’t the first rapper in history to have their cultural legitimacy be questioned in the context of a rap battle. There have been plenty of fully dark skinned black male rappers(and athletes) born and raised in America who have been dissed on wax and called out for not being “black enough” or “faking the funk”. Ppl like Dyson would never jump to their defense in the context of battle rap and hip hop. But with Drake…for whatever reason..he and many others feel like the questioning of his blackness or cultural legitimacy is “bullying” from kendrick Lamar. Could be on a sub-conscious level, because Drake is light skinned and mixed, that ppl feel that he can’t handle himself or that any mudslinging towards him is “bullying” even when he throws shots himself? He isn’t the only rapper to have his blackness questioned. Was MED upset when MC Serch, a white jew, called out MC Hammer? A dark black man born and raised in East Oakland? Was he upset back in the day of ppl constantly questioning Hammers cultural legitimacy? I wonder…

That pompous piece of shyt tried to strut into the store for an interview acting like hot shyt. He caused a scene cuz his books weren’t displayed up front. Yelling bout his NY Times numbers n shyt like I give a fukk.

I put them in the back where he was gettin interviewed but even then, his shyt is too soft and mid for my average customer and it wasn’t a major seller. For all that, the interview had shallow analysis and he came off extremely basic to me.
