Nice. I always wondered why MJ and Prince had beef, they both ruled the 80s.

It wasn’t “beef” per say it was HEAVY competiton.

MJ and Prince were a MUCH higher hyped version of Nas/Jay-Z without the aspect of Baby Mama drama. The ONLY artist that could compare to MJ in the 80’s as far as talent, mainstream appeal, controversy, and legacy was Prince.

Michael Jackson = Michael Jordan
Prince = Clyde Drexler

:pachaha: That shyt was crispy though.

This part I've timed here in the Off the Wall demo was crispier than a butter biscuit though:

I don't think that's a demo, but it damn sure sounds like it should've been on the album. I was on the treadmill tired as hell when I first heard this version...I started the song over and added another 5 minutes on the treadmill

Both insecure, competitive and prince was petty as shyt in them days.

Fact is though for Prince to be the biggest artist in the world...black or otherwise he had to be better than Mike.

Even before Thriller Mikes legacy was set with J5,The Jacksons and Off The Wall. Mike was in Prince way...

It says a lot because there was never a “Thriller” tour. At the height of his powers the most famous man on earth didn’t tour the biggest album of all time but he decided to go out with his brothers instead.

-Only did the tour because his mother wanted it...the brothers needed the money

-Mike didn't want the pepsi sponsorship...didn't even drink it

- The ticket situation where you had to buy tickets in blocks of 4..The brothers,Don King, Joseph and the promoter came up with the idea, Mike was overuled by the majority

Those wishing to attend would have to send a postal money order for $120 ($290 in modern dollars[1]) along with a special form to a lottery to buy blocks of four tickets at $30 apiece (US$72 in 2018 dollars[1]), ostensibly to curtail scalpers. Upon receipt the money was to be deposited into a standard money market account earning 7% annual interest; it would take six to eight weeks for the lottery to be held

-James Brown was invited to perform at MSG but he refused because was pisses at the ticket prices

-Mike received all the backlash and alot of black fans were priced out
- Mike wasn't talking to his brothers off stage and they had seperare transportation, had lawyers speaking for them

That tour was a big reason in why the relationship between Mike and his family broke down.. That and dude getting vitiligo in the prime of his career, then getting his scalped burned in the commercial and having to wear hairpieces.

I never knew the story behind the tickets, but yea the Victory album and tour is what made him throw his family in the bushes. He really only fukked with his sisters after that. He only came through for that 2300 Jackson street album, sang two lines on the title track and bounced. He later reconciled with the brothers but he never helped their careers or did business with them after Victory

Part of his re-up deal with Sony. He had a clause that said they couldn't drop his brothers now that he'd left the group
That's pretty much why the 2300 Jackson St album exists

This is all true. Michael got called out by a hwhite girl named LaDonna. I think she was from Texas.
She was working and saving up her money to see him. She couldn't afford a ticket and called him out.
Hurt his feelings real bad. His all time idol James Brown refusing shook him up, too.
He stopped that shyt cold.

I found an article:

Jones did chores for neighbors and baby-sat to save enough money for a concert ticket. But when she learned that you couldn't buy just one ticket, she penned a letter to Jackson and mailed it to The Dallas Morning News. It ran in the paper
"Dear Michael," she wrote. "I've always believed you to be a person of feeling up until now. I'm so disappointed in you. How could you of all people be so selfish? Is your appearance here in Texas Stadium only for the rich?"

A few days later, Jackson announced he would donate concert tour money to charity and asked that the ticket-distribution policy be eliminated.

"The other day I got a letter from a girl in Texas named Ladonna Jones," Jackson said.
