Spike had to go get money from them because Hollywood wouldn't fund a Malcolm X movie.
Same shyt for pretty much all race-related movies (non-whitewashed anyway).
There's a reason why there's almost no serious Hollywood movies on Slavery/Jim Crow, especially compared to the Holocaust.
On slavery and Jim Crow, the bad guys are white Americans whereas on the Holocaust, the bad ones are Germans. So I guess that makes it more acceptable for white audiences
