Hornets offered 5/170 Celtics gave him 4/140. U going to stay in NC with a team that didn’t value like a All NBA player? Last I checked Celtics make playoffs while the hornets season is over every year after 82 games.
You said he didn't want to pay him.

170 > 140.

I doubt Kemba gets that difference back 5 years from now. :yeshrug:

Charlotte is on the cusp of being an elite city. It's by no means some small po dunk town. Jordan, as much as we want to see him succeed, shoots himself in the foot outside of the basketball court. His name alone, & his brand, should mean something beyond the apparel.

Smart move, no real need in owning close to 100% of a team when you can get what you invested back by letting go of 10-15% and not lose any real authority. I'd probably move close to 30% if i invested 175m and saw what the portion of BK went for. If you can get 500-600m to move 35% why wouldn't you?

You know what's crazy. Players in the NBA can play for ANY owner and they rather play for some white man than play for the only black man.. It's so crazy how we blame everyone but ourselves. nikkaz don't even support each other .

Because Michael Jordan has ALWAYS been a catalyst, enforcer, and champion of Black unity, civility, and brotherhood right:martin:

He’s still majority owner...probably sold like 30-40% of it and made his money back when he bought the team and then some

If that's the case, isn't he basically just selling his own money? I'm sure he got more than the direct value of that percentage, but it would be worth more over time for him also.

Steinbrenner’s don’t own 100% of the team but the own the most and still run it. Nothing wrong with letting a couple of loyal investors get a little piece. Tho I’m sure investing with Jordan is guaranteed to be a sure win.

And that’s exactly the reason they ain’t give Kemba that bread. Right there. How you gonna give that man 5/170 when you can’t make the playoffs with him as the lead dog? Now I love Kemba, that’s my guy forsure, and their lack of success is definitely not on him whatsoever, but it was best for both sides to go in a different direction.
