What is this "we"? My mention of GP was in response to dude who said ANY ELITE WING could do what MJ did against the Suns. GP is an elite HOF player that played the same Suns team and didnt do close to what MJ did. It's not that hard to understand my point if you could read two posts and not be so quick to look for ways to point out how other posters don't know what they're talking about.

Gary Payton wasn't a wing player. He was the point guard of the Sonics at that time:beli:

"Cedric Ceballos all year was the player who never got the credit he deserved. For me, he was a godsend. He is going to get open. I loved passing to him out of double teams."

- Charles Barkley

That was the thing about Ceballos. He had a odd, unusual offensive game.It was bizarre for a small forward.

He could knock down mid range J's. even 3's, but he'd kill you in the lane off back cuts and put backs. He mostly scored his points in the paint with a vast array of inside moves(mostly off the ball) and lay ups.

He had that unconventional game similar to a Antawn Jamison, but he was more efficient around the basket IMO.He'd snake and weasel his way around the lane.

Pippen was quoted saying he hated matching up with Ceballos.

He was injured for most of '93, but in the one game he played against the Bulls that year, he dropped 27 on Pip in Chicago.

I'm not saying they would've beat the Bulls, but I think it would've definitely gone 7 had he played. He brought a unique offensive dynamic that would've made it harder on the Bulls IMO

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
They were 9th defensively, Bulls were 7th. Not to much of a difference broskie. :manny:

Teams shot 48% against them from the field, they would be the worst team in the league this year in regards to opponents FG%.

The Knicks were the only team in the league that year that played defense comparable to what teams today do in regards to shading & pace.

A Buckeye State Of Mind
:dead: at nikkas shytting on the suns.
Jordan's numbers was even more impressive because he had to play d against a great offensive team. He couldn't afford to take a break on that end of the floor cause the suns would've lit them up.

Dudes are overrating the hell outta that squad.

Elden almost led the lakers over them.

No one outside of die hard Lakers-not Kobe first fans remembers Elden being our best player on our 39 and 43 lakers squad in 1992.

He was better than Divac? :usure:

Did Elden even start for the Lakers that year?

You're right. Chasing around Dan Majrele was going to hurt Jordan's offensive output.

The suns were one of the worst defensive teams to ever make the finals though. Any elite wing would've killed that team

Gary Payton wasn't a wing player. He was the point guard of the Sonics at that time:beli:

Doesn't matter. They played elite players and none of those elite players came close to Jordan's numbers. Plenty of players elite throughout history have played against bad defensive teams and not too many put up the numbers that Jordan did in that series. So the quality of Suns defense is really moot.

1993 Gary Payton is an elite offensive wing?

I'm talking about guys like prime lebron kobe Durant wade Tmac etc. They Would've all destroyed that team

All of those guys have played less than great defensive teams and the only one who has ever had a comparable series is Bron vs. ORL in 09. Not to say that those guys wouldn't have put up numbers but none of them would have been able to do what Mike did.

Payton wasn't elite that year (3rd season). He wasn't even an All-star.

Being an all-star doesn't make you elite and not being one doesn't mean you aren't. That said your point is valid. Was David Robinson elite enough?

What does this year have to do w/back then? Suns defense (statistically) was slightly worse than the Bulls that year. (.474 vs. .479)

I guess the Bulls weren't a "great" team either.:manny:
