the big 5 of 85 86 era celtics were averaging career highs defensively. Bird was getting 2 steals a game and was a 3 time all d player. Danny ainge was a thief too and a pest in the passing lanes. dennis johnson was a 6 time all D player. and keven mchale was a 3 time all d plus was averaging almost 3 blocks a game that year. not to mention Parish who was known for his strong defense.

and all of these players were all stars.
