Where did you hear he was 20 years sober? Everything I see it says he was still using as recently as last year. Seems like it was always a constant struggle for him. Supposedly he turned a corner after filming Lovecraft country but obviously it didn't last. Addiction is no joke.

I just remember listening to an interview he did a couple months ago IIRC with Marc Maron. They were both trading back and forth their issues with drugs and alcohol and how they kept sober for so long. Unless Michael was lying he seemed sincere tho.
