i gotta see this for his exact words, but i can see what he means. for a white person to accept someone black as beautiful means the masses have to fall in line, they don't do that when black people exclaim blacks as beautiful. like zoe saldana, black guys simped her from drumline, but it wasn't until whites declared her hot post-avatar that she got that mainstream treatment. happens in reverse too, black people claim a white person as down, and then they're accepted by blacks...this form of validation from "others" isn't new.

He's right. Look at Lupita Nyongo for example. Throughout history, dark skin black women have always been looked at as ugly, not desirable , etc. by the white media. Now all of a sudden they say she's the most beautiful woman in the world and America is running with that.
