SE Michigan population-wise has like 5 million people, more if you count in Lansing area and Flint area. The vast majority of them are Blue Collar white people, people who's parents worked in the plants but had the privilege of home loans, access to credit and upward mobility. This made a metro area that's HIGHLY segregate both racially and ideologically.

Also, Michigan is home to some of the most well-funded and well organized Militias in the country. Couple that with a massive gun/hunting culture and you've got the conduits for idiotic right-wing nuts.

America is in a unique position because it, like no other nation in history represented the full power and might of white Christian civilization. And instead of accepting and embracing an America that's a multiracial democracy centered around western values they rather burn it all to the ground and start anew. And their police in those white areas are militarized to keep the black folks from feeling comfortable journeying outside of their cities.

Yeah, but at least in other areas there's enclaves of white people or other races. Chi has the Northside, LA has a ton of them, so does Boston. Rarely is the ENTIRE city Black. Which basically it is in Detroit.
