I switched to Mac a few years ago and never really looked back. I'm not saying that to start some kind of OSX vs Windows war. It just made me realize that you don't really need the start button. Its very easy to get along without it.

My work system is still windows and I honestly can count on one hand how many times I've clicked the start button this week.

People can't take change in large doses, only small increments. The hilarious thing is that during these small incremental changes consumers will storm message boards complaining about how the company is slow to innovate.

I have Windows 7 and (Linux on another computer). For those of you that had Windows 7 and now have Windows 8, Is the upgrade worth it? And if so, why?

Windows 8 is better than 7 but not necessarily worth upgrading. all 3 of my computers have Windows 8 legit and i paid maybe $80 combined to upgrade them all. i think at this point Microsoft wants more than that for one license. if you can get it cheap its worth it but paying full retail no.

I've had Windows 8 for about a day now and I really like it. I'm not sure that I'd pay for the upgrade if I was already on 7, but it came with my laptop so *shrug*.

I will say, it's fast as shyt. It boots so fast that I have my doubts as to whether or not my laptop is really off, or if it's in some sort of hibernation state.

I gotta reinstall my W7 on my laptop that I'm using for Linux to test out this fast boot time. All I know is my W7 desktop literally takes less than 30 seconds to go from powered off to my Chrome homepage. And that's with a User Account password. It can't be much faster than that, can it?

I haven't timed it but it seems faster than my Windows 7 machine with SSD.
Laptop has a 16 gig mSATA ssd though too so that might have something to do with it.

Just timed it. 12.97 seconds from power-button to Metro.

Fast as fuuuuuck.

Ppl are really trippin'?

Sounds like an exmaple of not reading the instruction manual.

It took me two seconds to get used to.

Hittin' the keyboard button >>> The Start button

And you still can hit the left corner and it pops up

I guess it's because I'm about that auto-hide the taskbar life.
