KitGuru is reporting from their sources that Microsoft is interested in acquiring AMD, which would make sense. But, remember that Microsoft has a very tight relationship with Intel when it comes to their products and Windows. Microsoft also maintains a very close relationship with AMD, as their Xbox One is powered by an APU made by AMD.

Microsoft has a huge $95.3 billion in cash, so it wouldn't take much to buy AMD at their market cap of $1.81 billion right now. If you consider the current value of AMD right now, it is three times less than what AMD paid for ATI Technologies back in 2008. With analysts estimating that Microsoft pays around $100 per APU to AMD for its Xbox One, Microsoft has already shelled out $1.26 billion or so to AMD with its 12.6 million Xbox One units sold.

Where it gets even more interesting, is thinking about the after effects of AMD being acquired by Microsoft. Sony would be paying Microsoft for every processor it buys from AMD for its PlayStation 4, so what would Sony do for the PS5? It would have to move over to NVIDIA, Intel, ARM or another company for its PlayStation 5 console. :ohhh:

If they own AMD the profits go up and on top of that they will own a considerable amount of the PC market. That's why I laugh when people say certain games are dropping on PC, which is pretty much the same as being Microsoft exclusive.

They are close to dominating the video game market. PC, Xbox and now profit from Sony PS4

be worth 6+ billion in 2008 during a recession year and now might be bought at 1.81 billion in 2015 at one of the better financial years in close to a decade

AMD lost so hard in the past 6-7 years to nVidia and intel:wow:

and before anyone comes in here saying 1.81 billion is nice, it sure is , but it was once valued at way more.. they fukked up hard

I used to be an AMD man :mjcry:

then they processors got left in the dust for gaming to intel :mjcry:

and their $300-500 cards got left in the dust to nvidia :mjcry:

AMD tried to market themselves to the budget customers but didnt want to market themselves that way :heh: they wanted to market themselves vs intel and nvidia but anyone who did 3 minutes of google research would see they arent as powerful so no point in buying them

for someone who wants a good gaming machine there was literally no point in ever going AMD/ATI after 2008 :mjcry:

just throw the fukkin towel AMD/ATI :damn:

When will nikkas learn that alot of competing companies use eachothers parts in their products. Apple been using Samsung parts for years. Microsoft buying AMD prolly wouldnt effect Sony but it will benefit Microsoft.
