Some places are still running XP too. I guess they'll upgrade to 7 now :mjlol:

Saw an ATM have a Windows XP-era BSOD not too long ago. :picard:

Y'all run unsupported versions of Windows if you want to

Nah, a lot of businesses aren't using xps by choice.

A lot of legacy machinery and equipment still have support software that is only available in XP.

This is going to take up a good portion of my winter....hundreds of 7 boxes running old hardware that only works in 7. Hell, even some of the companies who built these apps went out of business.

This what happens when companies go cheap and kick the can down the road for machine lifecycles...

No wonder I've seen so many updated laptops around the office :ohhh:

And I'm still stuck with Win 7 :stopitslime:

EDIT: I'm assuming my company is paying for extensions

They can do whatever they want but when that application causes OS issues, they cannot come to Microsoft for support unless they are willing to pay about 250,000 for extended support (cost differs based on number of machines and time period).

So their only option is to go to the vendor of said application for support... and if they haven't updated their application since XP, i doubt they even still exist.

The applications that you are talking about are usually internal
What?
embroidery software or CNC equipment, POS systems, inventory software that were written in the 80's.
