The last emblems of Nokia are being removed from Microsoft products. "Microsoft Lumia" is the new brand name that takes their place. The name change follows a slow transition from Nokia.com over to Microsoft's new mobile site, and Nokia France will be the first of many countries that adopt "Microsoft Lumia" for its Facebook, Twitter, and other social media accounts. Microsoft has confirmed to The Verge that other countries will follow the rebranding steps in the coming weeks. Nokia itself continues as a reborn company focusing on mapping and network infrastructure services.

I think Microsoft needs to let the phone market go... and with blackberry going down, they should focus on security and clean up those govt. contracts.

Yeah they aren't that competitive in the phone market, however I'm sure they want a piece of that android/apple monopoly thats going on now. The consumers would be better off though if microsoft starts doing well and blackberry makes an unlikely comeback

Hold on...So all Microsoft phones are going to be made by Nokia? no more Samsung, HTC Windows phones?

Nokias phones are some of the best built, best camera phones out.

How stupid could the execs at Nokia be. Biggest mistake, aside from being so late to the modern smartphone game was aligning with them. They could easily have the best Android phone but they bullshyttin. I'd buy a 1020 if I could put Android on it. Their build quality is second to none and their cameras are insane.

You understand that Microsoft makes money off of every Android device sold? That's why they can be patient and see what ultimately works and doesn't while most phone manufactures are losing money.

How? I didn't know this.

Patents, which is why I find some of these debates funny. Microsoft is making billions a year on Android and Chrome devices. Android uses some direct code and direct patents straight from Windows and Microsoft's original phone operating system. In order to get around not being able to use Android at all, Google and every Android phone manufacturer has a unique deal based on how much code or what patents are used. Most are royalty type deals. Others involve manufacturing and marketing of Windows Phones in addition to the royalty. Samsung has this type of deal, which is why you see the ATIV line. They have to sell a certain amount or pay a certain amount of royalties to reach the court appointed amount. HTC also has a similar deal. You will see this publicized once in a while, but not much detail. Right now I know first hand of Microsoft v Samsung going on right now in the discovery stage. Samsung is trying to change their deal by suing their way out of the current deal. Can't disclose much more but something is afoot at Samsung some think. Move to all Tizen? Hard push for Windows 10?

No one but Samsung makes money from Android phones. Nokia on the other hand was getting paid good money by Microsoft.
