'Microsoft Lumia' Will Replace the Nokia Brand

Microsoft is generating $2 billion per year in revenue from Android patent royalties, says Nomura analyst Rick Sherlund in a new note on the company.

He estimates that the Android revenue has a 95% margin, so it's pretty much all profit.

This money, says Sherlund, helps Microsoft hide the fact that its mobile and Xbox groups are burning serious cash.

For the past few years, Microsoft reported the revenue and operating losses of Entertainment and Devices, which was the group that housed Xbox, Windows Phone, and those Android royalty payments.

That group always seemed to be profitable, but Sherlund says it's largely because of the Android money.

Sherlund says that if you back out the Android profits, Microsoft is probably losing $2.5 billion on Skype, Xbox, and Windows Phone. Of that, $2 billion in losses are attributable to the Xbox platform.

Sherlund believes Microsoft needs to spin out Xbox. He sees it as an orphan group at Microsoft that doesn't really fit with anything it's doing.

Investors are blind to Xbox's struggles, says Sherlund, because they are "concealed by the hugely profitable Android royalties."

I remember telling people that Nokia make the best move going with Windows Phone. They forced Microsoft to buy them out.

Nokias phones are some of the best built, best camera phones out.

Where you get that from? Microsoft bought Nokia.. Nokia IS MICROSOFT NOW.
Instead of "Nokia Lumia windows phone" they are just calling it Microsoft Lumia" and dropping the windows phone name for just "windows"
Then they will call it "windows" for all devices, be it phone, tablet/etc. The next xbox will probably be called Windows or Box to Windows or some shyt... again, not joking

How stupid could the execs at Nokia be. Biggest mistake, aside from being so late to the modern smartphone game was aligning with them. They could easily have the best Android phone but they bullshyttin. I'd buy a 1020 if I could put Android on it. Their build quality is second to none and their cameras are insane.

They are doing very well, damn near took over the low end phone market.
So basically you asking Microsoft to make a windows phone to run andriod. Thats like saying Make a PC that can run Mac software
Might was well ask them to make playstation games compatible with the XB1 as well

They don't need to spin anything off. . Their operating revenue is $70+ billion. Investors don't like those individual losses, but they could have kept things going the way they were if they wanted to. Their moves to slim down and unifying Windows 10 will make investors happy though

Microsoft OWNS Nokia now, so there is no more andriod lumias bruh.
But, they did have them. Microsoft stopped all that in July tho.
So instead of having a dumbass hate towards the phone because its Microsoft, maybe you should actually cop a 1020 or whatever and enjoy the superior OS that Windows 8.1 phones provide

Or you can keep acting like you know its not good and then wish you had microsoft features like you do with your playstation

I'm a huge fan of the OS, and I would agree it the best phone OS, they just dragged their feet early on in getting app developers on their side and it cost them.
I also don't like the 'low end' look and feel of the nokia line. But that a matter of preference. I prefer the higher end design ie. iphone and htc1.

Now let me skool you on those windows apps. Outsiders say what you say, but actual adapters know what you say is bullshyt. Windows phone has apps built into the phone that make other apps obsolete.
You'll be looking for an app not realizing the phone has something better built in, I see that all the time on here. Then the apps you think it doesn't have, it'll have a 3rd party version that is usually better than the official one. 3rd parties can do changes, add features the official joint would not. Some lame tried to tell me on here that because it didnt have an official TINDER app that it wasn't worth the jump to him
(6tin is the windows tinder app btw) but I'm just pinpointing how you dudes refuse to give anything a fair shake. This does hurt YOU, because your bias makes you ignorant to what else is available in the world. Sony gamers have a history of acting that way, so its not surprising those same ppl would take that behavior to others things aka phones
