8.1 is piff but I'm interested to see what they're gonna do with 9

I hope the new OS is still as tablet and HTPC friendly as 8/8.1

How about fixing the internet connectivity and download issues on Windows 8 before working on a new OS. :camby:

I've got a 12GB RAM, 1TB laptop that is rendered to shyt because of Windows 8 :camby:

Umm that not a OS issue. Sounds maybe driver issue or a configuration issue. I have 3 devices on Win 8.1 and have none of these issues.

:russ:yall still on 7.

8.1 with Classic Shell installed and you'll never see Metro :blessed:

On win 8.1 you don't need any third party add on to boot directly to desktop. You can change the setting in OS now to do it on 8.1.

To be honest there nothing wrong with Win 8.1, it's just 1. Win 7 is still a good OS. 2. Some people just dont like change. Win 8 runs better than Win 7. MS is planning on updating the Windows every 2 yrs or so from now on.

It seems people hate on Win 8.1 just because :yeshrug:

You dont have to use Metro if you dont want it, 8.1 is really a faster Win 7 with more features and you can EASILY make it look EXACTLY like 7. Plus you wont even have to install ANY drivers :blessed:

Me and my brothers all bought brand new laptops at the same time (a month ago). All different brands and we're all having the same issues. Internet connectivity when streaming or downloading anything is very intermittent and we're all using 8.1. We've tried them on other broadband connections and it's the same problem. I googled the issue and apparently it's a common problem for users of Win8.

Connoction issues is a common problem regardless of the OS you're running. It an could be an isp issue, modem or router issue etc. If you was to google the same about win 7, vista, xp or mac os you find people having connection issues. So that does not prove anything.

The fact that I can have both my old and new laptops on at the same time and the one with Vista will download a 100MB file in less than a minute and the one with 8.1 can't download a 10MB file with crashing a couple times is all the proof I need.

Everything about 8.1 is great besides that one issue.

then lower the damn price. If i have to tweak the OS and I use a PC/laptop for the clairty of the screen and it being finger print free....i'm not buying a touch screen in which I need to keep a fingerprint rag handy, hahaha. I wipe my phone on my clothes so that part is easy....can't do it with a laptop to well.

windows 7 got me off of XP in 2010 and those alex close IE9 commercials stopped me from thinking about using google chrome...which i switched to anyways last yr, lol.

i use my smartphone like a tablet anyways and for checking news etc.....I need my PC's to PC. I don't need all that social media instant info on some metro interface. Metro could have been a html5 webpage or a side bar. I like looking at my wallpaper at times, hahaha. I used to color cordinate my AIM skins in the early 2g with the wallpaper and transparency features...but unlimited text and facebook killed AIM.

Win 8 was cheap when it 1st come out. I got my pro license for $39. There's a dude on here @2gunsup who also sells cheap win keys. You don't to have get a touchscreen laptop and even if you did you dont have to use it. As was mentioned already you can boot to desktop if you want too. Now if you are happy with Win 7 stay on it. If you want a more efficient and faster OS upgrade. Tailor it to your needs.

Whats wrong with Windows 7 that microsoft is trying to phase it out of production on new computers?
why would you want windows 7 on new computers when windows 8 is better for new machines? I just dont get ppl's infatuation with old shyt :heh: Its like when windows 7 came out you had a bunch of ppl dead set on keeping XP on their computers :russ:
