what a stupid thing to allow to leak right before the launch. The division does profit however so even if its sold i don't think it would be abandoned. This is simply speculation based off someone who heard a comment from someone who might not even be the next CEO.
If they do sell it its just a cheap way to increase earnings for next year but its not sustainable so i don't see the strategy if it comes to increasing the share price
i'd say at most a 30% chance xbox division is sold and only if someone is willing to make a substantial offer and i really don't see any other companies in a position to take on the console market with 2 fierce competitors other than a company like Apple or Google who can afford to take short term losses and sell consoles at a loss.
For Apple they could just do all their apple tv stuff on the xbox and honestly would sell more than the xbox brand but it would be complicated for them to just take over right after a product that will be out for 6-8 years unless they do a refresh of the outside design and rename it then the ones that were sold as Xbox's might be worth something to collectors in the future.
Wow now thinking about it I wish Google or Apple would buy the xbox brand!

All of this is great, but it doesn't really matter to them. The most devastating news to them is the fact that the Xbox One is NOT failing.
They've gone so hard and fought at every angle for almost a year now, and at the end of the day Xbox will still be succesful and a great product for those that buy it. That's why these dudes are furious.
