Microsoft to host press conference at Gamescom 2013 - Report

Microsoft will host its own press conference this year at European trade show Gamescom, reports CVG.


Certain developers have already been notified about the one-hour press conference, says CVG, but that neither the date nor the running order has been finalised.

Sources have said that the proposed press conference would be for Microsoft to reiterate its core message behind the Xbox One, while also attempting to secure the console's footing in European territories. While the Xbox has traditionally been popular in the UK--with the Xbox 360 recently overtaking the Wii in total sales--it has seen less success than Sony's PlayStation in other European markets.

If true, 2013 would mark the first time Microsoft has held a full-blown press conference during the European show. Both Sony and EA regularly hold their own press conferences at Gamescom.

Microsoft had previously announced that it will be returning to Gamescom this year after skipping it in 2012.

"We're excited to be back at Gamescom this year but we're not announcing any further details on our plans at this time. Please stay tuned for more details!" said a Microsoft spokesperson.

Gamescom will run from August 21 through August 25 in Cologne, Germany.

Microsoft will release the Xbox One this November for $499/£429/€499.

Theyre going to show a 2 second clip of masterchief throwing a plasma grenade using IN GAME FOOTAGE then the screen will go THUDDDDDDDDDDD, sharply transition to a black screen and then the Halo 4 logo will appear. Paid Courtdogs will cheer on cue.

Microsoft is on a goodwill tour. They squandered all that great momentum they had with the X360. I don't own a X360, I did own an xbox strictly for ESPN NFL 2K5. It would be hard for me as a gamer to trust Microsoft simply because they tipped there hand and only went back on all those DRM policies not because of you Rico/smooth3d/loose/meach and all others in that ilk. Those Pre-Orders made them shut down that policy as well as the bad press. All E3 week they said Our Policy will not change and the more they said the PS4 to XB1 pre-order ratio widen. I think the XB1 is a good system and I do like some of the Kinect features. But as a gamer I can't support them right now knowing what they tried to do.

The biggest reason I can't support them is that they are putting out a significantly weaker console. The reason their console is significantly weaker is likely because they had to cut corners in order to integrate a NSA-Camera in every box. Even with the corner cutting, they still have the nerve to price their (weaker) console at 100 bucks more than the PS4. It's a joke. I was expecting them to be like 50 bucks cheaper than PS4, not more expensive.

Its already $100 cheaper than the PS3 at launch, but you made up excuses for why it was a good deal
This system clearly is a better deal than the PS3 & 4 when it comes to those "other features" so why don't you stop being envious in every thread?

I hear ya, but you have been misinformed. The Xbox One is NOT significantly weaker than the PS4. Developers have said they are either equal or in a few cases they say the Xbox One is more capable because of its cloud. Now if you can show me where its said that the PS4 is significantly more powerful in the real world setting then Xbox One, I will never make the mistake of saying otherwise again :shake:

I don't buy the significantly weaker argument, simply because they are in the ball park not outside of it. They have a good product that can stand on its own. I just know what is in there plan, I have no problem if it were all digital, but physical copies? you wouldn't own and its in there pipeline, they want to treat physical copies of software like they do there windows products and they though it was no big deal because on PC they have done this all the time.

Hate when people say this. They don't understand hardware. Imagine if the people who made Xbox one were really good at making developer tools and optimizing API's and hardware/software interfaces, like perhaps a software company would be. And had a graphics API that tons of developer are familiar with and have used for years, which is super optimized for that specific hardware and currently better than the competition..lets say its called DirectX. hmmmmmm

I'm probably going to get ps4 but lets not act like the hardware is miles apart.
