As probably very few of you know, Microsoft is way ahead of the competition when it comes to new ways to game
With Kinect leading the charge for this new gen, talks have already started on what is next to come
Sony has recently tipped its hand by showing off its Virtual Reality headset that may or may not come out anytime soon :manny:
While Microsoft has been more tight lipped about its Augmented Reality Glasses dubbed "Fortaleza" which was leaked last year from internal documents
What wasn't revealed until this interview is WHY Microsoft passed on going the Virtual route
I think you will find the reasoning interesting to say the least :shaq:
The juicy part starts at the 5:30 mark...

Augmented reality and virtual reality incorporated with Kinect 2, which is the perfect controller for the technology, would create total immersion and the potential for games would be virtually limitless! Are you excited about the possiblities of AR and VR on Xbox One? Let us know in the comments below.

I think that this will be a big win. Virtual Reality is the wave of the future but not the near future. This is going to be a game changer literally. I say that because its going to add to games. You aren't going to have to develop a game for it but more so develop features for it. I'm interested in what the 3d capabilities will be like .

Yeah I will give you virtual reality. It will be dope but not until you are wearing a suit and you are on a treadmill. Augmented reality can be a supplement. That tech they bought is supposed to have some nice 3d tech.

Its' funny how you :krs: for this but was all :camby: for any other reality devices.
This is practical, and I seen this almost 2yrs ago.
You seen it too, then sony is last to the party and shows the most unimpressive unit out of the 3 (Fortaleza and Oculus rift) and you act like you seen something new :mjlol:
But all sony has done is what, show you a space helmet?
I used Virtual Reality like plenty of us have... in the 80's early 90's when the tech was in arcades all over the place
For some reason, it took this long for that to get into homes. But its STILL a funny medium that alters perception
Now sir, if you peeped the video from the link in the first post? It talks about why they didn't go the VR route
Talked about how it alters brain functions (not in a good way)
That would be a good starting reason for why I'm like :camby:

The whole idea of putting something that big on, then feeling like you in another reality?
Thats too much. I don't want to FEEL like I'm in the game so much that I can get motion sickness
Maybe one day in the future future. But that type of tech isn't ready for primetime

Yeah they'd do better putting it in an arcade setting where you could have a treadmill and some physical interaction/noises/smells

It would be like the new laser tag. I'd pay to go do that, but I couldn't see myself buying one to use at home.

As for the AR glasses I'd have to see how they enhance gaming. If its just a matter of putting the HUD on the glasses, or some type of 2d/hologram shyt. I'll pass on that too:camby:
