i really really really need to get put onto some tribe

i grew up a heavy west coast head, so outside of biggie i never touched a NY record until the late 90s and i hit my late teens and started maturing my ears and sounds

i done went back and submerged myself into the Wu, and Nas, a little Mobb...but that Native Tongues era I have completely skipped

for the purpose of the thread i cant say, because doggystyle defined my childhood....but ive heard amazing things about tribe...i need to educate myself

they had some nice beats, weak mic presence with annoying voices and werent shyt individually. NONE of their albums are seeing doggystyle or most of the albums you probably grew up on

i dont know man, to me doggystyle is one of the best rap records ever, but alot of the shyt i grew up on werent necessarily advanced or innovative music records you know what i mean (ie south central cartel)

ive only heard like the main singles like bonita applebum, world tour, and find my way etc

but i respect their steez you know? like, i never listened to wu until the late 90s but i respected their get down

i get the same vibe with tribe...

Doggystyle. But I'm from Long Beach so I may be biased:manny:. I love MM, one of my favorite rap albums ever. But Doggystyle was the soundtrack to so many house parties I went to in my youth. Throwing on Aint No Fun at a house party was:blessed:

The WBalls intro though :scusthov:

wtf were 90's west coast rappers so obsessed with penis jokes? :scusthov:

IMO one of the glaring reasons a lot of the classic west coast albums take hits when measured against the NY stuff is due to the over the top, cartoony, misogynistic, juvenile content.

It's a bit shortsighted.
