Uncertain grounds
I think they were gonna lose the white house either way. :manny:

This really is best case scenario for everyone IMHO. I don't like when either side has complete control.

I agree with the latter. Theyre just movable pieces so I prefer some sort of balance regardless of the suit in the chair.

I think they will lose the white house and wouldve anyway...but i think their angle of broken washington couldve been slow-played to increase odds at white house and have the same or even stronger repub momentum for gov and congressional races. I mean let's face it, America isnt going to get significantly better in 2 years and is more likely to stay the same or get worse regardless of who was in power. Now they are going to shoulder the blame for the inevitable.

Remember this little number last year friend. :sas1:

lol thats just blind political stannery

I got a degree in poli theory + econ, my roommate last few months the same (deg. in public law), hardcore Working Families voter who thinks unicorn-laden rainbows shoot out of Hillary's eyes and Dems were strutting to a super majority for 2016 a few months ago.

The economy is not "fine" seeing as polls of voters suggest concerns to the contrary, notwithstanding Obama's desire to cherry pick #'s like the S&P, meager job growth, and the rest of the world sucking (see his comments today about how America is "outperforming much of the world" as if being the shiniest piece of shyt is a fantastic quality_

TYRONE GA!
As a Dem, it's a depressing ass day BUT I never give up hope. I'm just always amazed at what kind of a country we have where a man can come out and say his job is to block a president at every turn, while he's being sworn in, and win re-election in his district. That's crazy to me but probably says a lot about our country right now.

Prime reason why I can't fukk with Rethugs totally. shyt is rediculous.

lol @ some of these posts on the past few pages too

As if all Hillary has to do is show up and all the "target groups" will magically be as enthused as they were in 2012 in 2016.

California Approves $587 Billion High-Speed Rail Link to Hawaii
Nov 05, 2014

undereatunnellss-257x155.jpg
California voters have overwhelmingly approved plans for a high-speed rail link to Hawaii.

According to election officials, Proposition 49 - which would use public money to build a 2,600-mile-long undersea rail tunnel between Honolulu and Los Angeles - passed with a resounding 78 percent of the vote.

The tunnel would be 185 times longer than the longest undersea tunnel in the world, the Sekian Tunnel in Japan. The total cost of the project is estimated at $587 billion and barring any court challenges construction is expected to begin in 2018.

“This is a great day for California,” says Walter Miller, leader of the Yes on 49 campaign. “Sure it’s relatively easy and cheap to fly to Hawaii. But why would you want to take a 5-hour flight, when you can take a 15-hour train ride in an underground tube?

“Here in California we’re disrupting the future of transportation with this tunnel. It’s going to be an enormous boost to our economy. ”

California has a long history of high-speed rail boondoggles. Voters approved a $10 bililion high speed rail link from San Francisco to Los Angeles in 2008, only to see costs skyrocket sixfold in the years since. However, the astronomical cost of the Hawaii project seems not to trouble its supporters.

“Yeah I guess that kind of seems like a lot of money,” says Chaz Whitman, a part-time juggler from Berkeley. “But those fat cat CEOs on Wall Street make more than $500 billion in a single day right?. Let’s just raise taxes on them a little bit.

“Like there’s like so much money out there that we’re not using. It’s just like sitting there in rich people’s bank accounts. Why can’t we use that for like trains and parks and snacks and stuff. You know?”

Other ‘yes’ voters were more motivated by the project's political and environmental benefits. Rebecca Watson, a sociology major at the University of California San Diego, sees the new railway as a symbol of collectivism over capitalism.

“Airplanes are part of the corporate-industrial complex,” she explains, “They’re built by multinational corporations like Boeing and Halliburton. Trains aren’t built by corporations. They’re built by the people, for the people.

“Plus think about all the carbon emissions that we’re going to prevent. I mean flying on a plane is kind of like supporting Hitler you know. It’s like really really bad for the environment.”

The Hawaiian government has not yet announced a position on the rail tunnel. However, an advisor close to incoming Governor David Ige says his boss is leaning against the proposal.

“This is the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard. If California wants to build a tunnel, then go ahead. But we won’t be spending Hawaiian taxpayer money on this.”

Shyt sucks breh. In Maryland we have a Republican governor now because people forgot to vote or didn't get to vote etc. A state where Democrats outnumber Republicans 2:1

you have a republican governor because O'malley taxed everything including the rain (and the rain part isn't hyperbole)

Yeah I can't vote for a party who is willing to sabotage and obstruct at every turn for their own gain and do it so arrogantly. Look at what happened to the now former governor of Pennsylvania. He was talking that shyt about the voter ID laws type brazenly and admitted it was to block minoriries from voting and now he's out of office but the fact is no one should feel that comfortable to ever say anything like that and yet they do. And when Mitch and people like him say it they're rewarded because of gerrymandered districts and the fact that democrats refuse to come out in midterms because we are always so damn busy

True to a degree but I also feel like there were enough people who didn't come out to vote which they didn't. I know people who didn't even know there was an election breh. Completely uninformed and then I know people who just didn't make it out to vote. Even with the taxes the numbers in PG and Montgomery and Baltimore city weren't strong enough to carry him. Plus to be honest brown ran a terrible campaign from the jump. He did what most front runners do: try to run out the clock.

Brown sucked too

i dont care either way tho. The last 4 years under O'Mally were not good for many Marylanders.

Yeah no doubt. A lot of people have dealt with a lot of crap just because there's no money in their pockets. But we suck In terms of turnout man. Not knowing there's an election is not an excuse. You'd never know it was that bad if you look around parts of PG and Charles county and MoCo
