They watched Lil Baby lap them when he was just a local act, he probably got a better deal.
All that extravagant jewelry tells says they don’t really got money like that so they go overboard with depreciating items, its like old cash money artists
Lil Baby definitely got a bad contract. He's just too talented for it to matter right now.

Dude came up under Young Thug, Gucci, and QC all at once.

He's just popping right now.

If I was them I'd call his bluff and ask for an outright release from the contract then, if they don't want to keep people working with them who don't want to be there. I am 1000% sure QC would come back with "welll, the fee for that is..."

That's exactly what he meant
Buy your way out was implied

They're not gonna let 3-9 mil (depending on valuation) walk out the door

I don't know who you speak for but I don't know a single person who only listens to one rapper. A lot of people don't even listen to albums, they listen to curated playlists

People have lanes and runs. Eras change. Migos were poppin because they came with a "new" style. "Migos Flow" became a thing. Problem is they became repetitive and didn't have much substance and became caricatures of themselves.

Meanwhile, Lil Baby came with a dope style AND he was great at making lyrics that people want to put as their social media captions. He steadily improved and Migos never reinvented themselves. Cardi B goin quiet secretly affected them too because they became out of sight out of mind to their Shaderoom fanbase.

If they're doing honest business why are they making artists sign 360 deals?

360 deals are overwhelmingly the industry standard unless an artist has crazy leverage.

You gotta look at why QC started in the first place. Coach K had said it was because he was tired of being a manager building up artists like Pastor Troy, Jeezy & Gucci Mane only for them to fire him and cut him out from residuals of his hard work. Managers always work the hardest (especially in the beginning) only to get the short-end of the stick and nothing long-term.

Thus, QC is more like a management arm that acts as your label to ensure they don't get cut out.

In return, QC actually get their artists endorsement deals (like major labels in 360 deals are supposed to do but don't). Yachty doesn't get a Nautica deal without them. Same for Lil Baby and Finishline.

QC actually put up alotta money for their artists and took a big loss negotiating away from 300 Ent and couldn't release music for 18 months due to litigation. Luckily, "Bad & Boujee" became a hit.

They mention it all the time on interviews like here. Coach K talk about the formation at the very start of this. They talk about the litigation with 300 Ent around 18 minutes.

definitely bad optics on this for migos, but is it at all a surprise? something tells me those dudes aren't financially literate.

also it is safe to say nobody is asking for a new album. those dudes jumped the shark real hard and lost touch with reality, and only now just touching down.

For sure, I'm not really blaming migos. Mainly QC and them for taking advantage.

I'm never really upset at young nikkas signing deals if it puts them in a better place and position. I will be vocal about them moving better in hopes of encouragement but like I said earlier, blame really falls at the foot of black people taking advantage of the same young black people that really put their label on.

Outside of the lawyer thing

I said this in the NBA YB thread and it’s the same shyt with Carl and Meg

Im willing to bet NBA, Meg and Migos all signed what would be considered a standard industry contract

what happens when you breakthrough like these 3 you end up outperforming that standard contract in way that no one can look at that contract as fair

you have to consider there’s artist that signed that same contract that have not brought any return on investment to the label
