hear both of these comments and i love it when an artist pushes the boundaries without a care for commercial success...

that being said, i do think miguel's biggest issue is marketing, more than content. even on WH and W&L there were hits on there that could have EASILY blew commercially....one that springs to mind is "face the sun" with lenny kravitz on WH which had an acoustic indie vibe to it, and "pineapple skies" on W&L, miguel channelling his inner marvin on that joint
