We bout towith swag'toni the offensive genius
You guys are idiots. This is a good choice. Of course Phil would have been the best choice but D'antoni can coach. Plus Kobe respects him A LOT. Nash loves him. Dwight will love him and Pau too. I was scared they were about to hire Dunleavy![]()
Honestly, D'Antoni is the much better choice between the two. Phil is old and washed up and doesn't seem too interested in working hard. People are just letting nostalgia get the best of them.
If Dwight gets back healthy the defense can only be so bad with him anchoring
dantoni squads were shyt defensively not just because of his coaching, but because his rosters were flawed.
When you have a squad with offensive weapons like Kobe "GQ" Bryant, Dwight "Chocolate Shoulders" Howard, Steve Nash, and Pau Gasol you need a offensive mind who can utilize all of em...........not too many coaches can do that
d'antoni
I LOVE IT
I actually like this for the Lakers. All jokes aside, looking at makeup of the current Laker roster the offense D'Antoni will be bringing in seems like the best bet among caoches available. The triangle would have been hard to implement with the season already started and it's the type of offense you want to learn and the fly and lose games due to trial and error.
Run and Gun suits them perfectly with Steve Nash and as far as defense goes none of the Lakers were world beaters in that regard and no coach was going to turn them into defensive stoppers anyway so trying to overwhelm teams with offense is a pretty good strategy with potential HOFers in your starting lineup.
I like the move
I kind of like the hire now. I really wanted PJax to come back but looking at it objectively, it was going to take too much to get that arrangement to work.
Like I said, this move will work because the Lakers can essentially coach themselves with Nash and Kobe in the lineup. D'Antoni will be there to provide guidance, adjustments and a system to run but it would be best if he didn't try to exert his influence on the top guys.
Unlike the Brown hire, I'm kinda looking forward to this coach and seeing a faster paced Lakers team. Let's hope it turns into a ring.
