not a bad roster. i don't know how much say tomlin had in personnel and his coaching hires, but he wasted some good years with matt canada and the clown they have there now. he's never seemed to have been able to hire good OC's for some reason. ben made them look better than they were

mccarthy will clean em up and have the offense looking like an nfl offense. he had the cowboys competitive while he was here. i think his problem was that dak isn't a bigtime qb when it counts. they'll be back in the playoffs next year if they can get a qb.
That's the problem. We do not have a QB.

And I understand that McCarthy is a much more offense oriented guy than Tomlin. But he also has always had the benefit of coaching franchise (top-10) qb's, while Tomlin has been forced to deal with the corpse of Big Ben/Russ/Arod, and Mason Rudolph .

McCarthy at 62 is the first head coach we've hired over 60:dead:

young qb or another old retread?
i don't know. if they could get a good vet i'd go that route and still draft a qb to get him started. if they go young you're taking the chance of losing the little momentum they have now.

i don't disagree with that. i think the job tomlin has done has been remarkable. always have. but how much say did he really have over personnel? i think he'd been there long enough to have earned the right to have his voice heard, but they've made some awful personnel decisions. i'll never understand why he didn't hire leftwich to be the OC.

:dahell: which is it. Yall said this dude is equal level to Sean Payton. Why everybody laughing
They have similar resumes, can’t dispute that. I don’t think anyone is saying he’s a bad coach or hire, just not what you expect the Steelers to do. He’s going to win games if they get a qb

I mean what young good candidate is out there?

A full rebuild is needed. Getting a QB probably won't happen this year.

Mccarthy probably the best y'all can hope for right now

Hiring a 62-year-old veteran coach doesn't sound like an organization that wants to do a long rebuild

So much for that "we never got a chance to bottom out" narrative

Carroll was 60 when he hired by Seattle
Bruce Arians was 67 when hired by Tampa and he was 61 when he was hired by Arizona
62 isn't too old to have success
