common sense, considering a huge portion of this board is filled with random people not only pretending to be Black, but have never got in a fight in their life..

but, we gonna act like Tyson wasn't gettin taxed like these rappers, fighters and entertainers have been, and do now..? :what: i think Tyson is one of the coolest folks i ever met, but lets keep it a hunnid..

no lol i refuse to believe.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
yup..
imo. I think the huge difference is back then.. you could be a cat like Cube from LA(this is just a instance.. nothing against Cube).. you in NWA.. blah, blah, blah.. then. you get beat up on up Sunset in broad daylight- its not that big a deal.. you still a legend.. made great music.. blah, blah, blah.. :heh:

that kinda shyt would end a rappers career, now.. Cam gets punched in the eye, all of a sudden people think his career over.. cats think he marshmallow soft.. blah, blah, blah..

all that kinda shyt stems from the whole, "we didnt have that back in my day" mentality.. when in reality- we did.. alot of them cats, were just as fake, get tin extorted, wanna be tough guys if not worse than some of these folks now.. its just we have more access to their lives now..

yet...with all that said...Cube would son about 80% of these new rappers...nikkas is THAT soft now...I genuinely believe that..on top of that...these nikkas ALSO get away with WAY MORE than rappers would have...one the biggest rappers in the game at one point was openly kissing another grown man on the lips and callin him daddy...look at Lil B...this nikka made an album called "Im Gay'...called himself a pretty bytch...got duffed out by an actual gay rapper ON CAMERA I might add...CAN'T RAP...yet STILL has DROVES of fans my nikka..lol...Ross still gets looked at as a real nikka even with all the C.O shyt that came out...Cam didn't disappear cause of just the punch in the eye..Cam let the shyt defeat him...he basically disappeared for over a year right after he made an embarrassing video..on top of that...he get straight done dirty by his own unloyal team...when he came back..he still got mad love...it's just that he lost alot of the swag and skills and overall inspiration that made people fans of him in the first place...Cam in uninspired now...and I can't even blame him...

The quote is true, but you gotta understand that Black America was in a much darker place then. It shouldnt be looked upon with nostalgia, despite the fact that the music was of high quality and a lot grittier and "real"

The late 80s/early 90s was the height of the crack epidemic, and the streets in NY and L.A were virtual war zones. The record industry had no choice but to reflect that. NY, which was the center of hip hop at the time, was averaging over 2000 murders a year. L.A was outta control too. People are losing their mind over the violence in the Chi, and they average over 400 murders a year currently speaking. That should put things in perspective.

The change in Hip hop reflects the growth of black america. Some good, some not so good. We're all not hood niqqas no mo, and Im glad the violent aspect of rap, and black culture, has been pushed to the margins.

Suge Knight went to college and graduated.

Pac was in art school, lisping like a girl at 17

Mobb Deep are 5'2

Dre is not about that life

Cube not even from Compton.

If all of this type of access that we have now was available back in the day. Alot of your so called "super hero" rappers would be looked at differently. Look how much trouble ya gave Plies for going to college n dropping out.

You have a point, however:

- It ain't like Cube got beat up by a random muffucca...he got beat up by a legit, reputable dude who was known in them streets he got seen in...you can be "tough" and still take an L. Cube was still that nicca that ran up in Bryan Turner's office with thugs to get his paper right...

- From what I understand (I don't really follow his career), Cam's issue is that he has a series of events that have people question his toughness.

- There's a difference between guys being "tough" as in not being a punk and them trying to portray themselves as Billy Badasses. There were a lot more of the latter back in the day, but also it seems there were more of the former as well.

The thing is none of the things you listed take away from a persons gangster...Infact you can actually be a combination of all the above (A 5'2", college graduate, from the suburbs, with a lisp, that starts a life of crime late) and still be the biggest killer in the hood...

But I guess they don't teach you that in your Urban Fantasy Enthiusiast handbook..

:pachaha:

You seem to be caught up in stereotypes more than anything...

Except these cats stomped nyggas down in Casinos LIVE on tape...

Alot of hearsay and whining goes with everyone else. Chris Brown gets propped for beating up Rihanna? That's the generation of today. Weak. Soft. Buttercup nyggas who can't even show up to an event unguarded. LOL.
